Being a strong and rustic plant, the yellow rose it adapts to many types of soil, the important thing is that it is well worked at a good depth and with the addition of mature manure.

Planting and repotting

The yellow rose is planted during the autumn or at the end of winter. The soil in which it will be transplanted must be well worked at least thirty days before and deep to which manure and peat will be added. After the planting operation, the rose may develop suckers, in this case they must be cut. It will be advisable to repot at least every two years, as the soil must be changed and the pot, with the passage of time, becomes small; if the roots do not have enough space to grow the plant will also not develop properly.

Like other roses, even the yellow one needs an abundant and regular supply of water especially during the warmer seasons. As also recommended in other articles, leaves and flowers should not be wet during watering to avoid the appearance of fungi.

Mulching with leaves and peat manure will be very useful for keeping the soil moist, avoiding the onset of weeds and providing nutrients; this operation will be done during the spring period, every year in the case of calcareous soil, while every two years for the other types of soil. The yellow rose should be fertilized especially during the flowering period.

The yellow rose can be multiplied by seed, cutting, grafting. The technique of multiplying by seed is used especially for typical species; it should be done in October by placing the seeds in containers with suitable soil, when they sprout they will move to the nursery and will be ready to be planted after about two years. The cutting is also used for hybrids, mini roses, sarmentose and others; proceed with the taking of cuttings about thirty centimeters long in August or September, the subsequent rooting in a shady place in twenty centimeter holes with sand on the bottom. The newborns will be ready for transplantation in the following autumn.

(For the grafting technique and more detailed explanations about the two previous techniques, see the "garden" section in the "roses" section).

Pruning is a fundamental phase of rose care. In addition to being used to eliminate dry or damaged branches and leaves, it will be useful to give the desired shape to our rose, to make it grow healthier and more vigorous, etc. This operation is described in detail in the "garden" section of the "roses" section.

The flowers of the yellow rose can be hermaphroditic, that is, they have male and female reproductive organs, or unisexual due to the death of one sex. They are born solitary and form umbrellas, are composed of numerous petals and the calyx is formed by five green sepals. The yellow rose blooms from May to the end of September.

Diseases and parasites

Like almost all other types of rose, the yellow one is also subject to many diseases and parasites: aphids, scale insects, beetles, fungi, etc., they weaken the plant, slow down or stop its development and can even lead to its death. (See "garden" section "roses" section).

On the market the yellow rose it is readily available. Fundamental thing, as mentioned for other types of rose, when you remove it from the purchase packaging, before proceeding with the transplant in pot or soil, ventilate the roots well.
